Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Welcome to www.trillis.co.uk (the "Site"). We understand that privacy online is important to users of our Site, especially when conducting business. This statement governs our privacy policies concerning those users of the Site ("Visitors") who visit without transacting business and Visitors who register to transact business on the Site and make use of the various services offered by Trillis Cottage (collectively, "Services") ("Authorised Customers").
Personally Identifiable Information
Refers to any information that can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, email address, and financial profile. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.
What Personally Identifiable Information is Collected?
We may collect basic user profile information from all of our Visitors. We collect the following additional information from our Authorised Customers: name, email address, phone number, address, and social media profile information.
What Organisations are Collecting the Information?
In addition to our direct collection of information, our third-party service vendors (such as payment processors) may collect this information from our Visitors and Authorised Customers. We do not control how these third parties use such information, but we do ask them to disclose how they use personal information provided to them.
How Does the Site Use Personally Identifiable Information?
We use Personally Identifiable Information to customise the Site, make appropriate service offerings, and fulfil booking requests. We may email Visitors and Authorised Customers about their bookings or information related to their stay. We may also use Personally Identifiable Information to contact Visitors and Authorised Customers in response to specific enquiries or to provide requested information.
With Whom May the Information be Shared?
We may share aggregated information about our Visitors with our affiliated agencies and third-party vendors. We also offer the opportunity to "opt-out" of receiving information or being contacted by us or by any agency acting on our behalf.
How is Personally Identifiable Information Stored?
Personally Identifiable Information collected by Trillis Cottage is securely stored and is not accessible to third parties or employees except for use as indicated above.
Cookies and Analytics
We only use analytics cookies if you choose Accept on our cookie banner. If you choose Reject, or make no choice, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google Analytics. You can change your mind at any time using the link in the footer of every page; withdrawing consent stops analytics and deletes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.
Google Analytics 4 (only with your consent)
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site (for example which pages are viewed, whether the booking calendar and extras shop are used, and whether a checkout completes) so we can improve it. We have turned off Google signals and advertising personalisation, and we do not use Google Analytics for advertising. We do not send your name, email address, phone number or booking code to Google. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses; Google uses them briefly to work out an approximate location (such as country or city) and then discards them. Google may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards; see Google's privacy policy.
Cookies set only after you accept:
- _ga: distinguishes visitors; expires after up to about 13 months.
- _ga_LV84C07F3V: keeps track of your session; expires after up to about 13 months.
Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
Strictly necessary storage
Your cookie choice is saved in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) for 6 months, after which we ask again. If you arrive from a booking link or enter a booking code in the extras shop, the code is remembered in local storage for up to 60 days so you do not have to re-enter it, and your extras basket is kept in session storage until you close the tab. These are needed for the Site to work as you would expect and do not track you.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, gives us basic, privacy-friendly visit statistics (such as page views and page load times). Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage and does not track you across sites or build a profile of you.
Service Providers We Use
- Cloudflare: hosts the Site and protects it against abuse; it processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages securely.
- Hostex: provides our booking calendar and processes your booking details when you book direct.
- Stripe: processes card payments for bookings and extras. We never see or store your full card details.
- Resend: sends order confirmation emails for extras.
- Google: Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies (see above).
Your Rights
You have the following rights under data protection law:
- The right to access
- The right to rectification
- The right to erasure
- The right to restrict processing
- The right to object to processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to complain to a supervisory authority
- The right to withdraw consent
Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 18 years, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18 years. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Information, please get in touch with us immediately. If we learn that children below 18 years have provided personal information, we will delete the information from our servers immediately.
How Can Visitors Correct Any Inaccuracies in Personally Identifiable Information?
Visitors and Authorised Customers may contact us to update their Personally Identifiable Information: info@trillis.co.uk
Can a Visitor Delete or Deactivate Personally Identifiable Information?
We provide Visitors and Authorised Customers with a mechanism to delete/deactivate Personally Identifiable Information from the Site's database by contacting us. However, because of backups and records of deletions, it may be impossible to delete a Visitor's entry without retaining some residual information.
What Happens if the Privacy Policy Changes?
We will let our Visitors and Authorised Customers know about changes to our privacy policy by posting such changes on the Site. However, if we are changing our privacy policy in a manner that might cause disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information that a Visitor or Authorised Customer has previously requested not be disclosed, we will contact such Visitor or Authorised Customer to allow them to prevent such disclosure.
